About Me

Hi,

I’m Léa, a postnatal doula supporting families through the fourth trimester and beyond.
I’m also a mum of three lovely children, including twins, and I know first-hand how life-changing, beautiful and at times challenging the transition into parenthood can be.

My journey has included recovering from both a vaginal birth and a caesarean birth, navigating breastfeeding challenges, combination feeding, and experiencing the many emotions that come with becoming a parent.

Originally from France, I have been living in the UK for over 10 years. My own journey into motherhood showed me just how much of a difference the right support can make, and it inspired me to become a postnatal doula.

My goal is to offer the continuity of care that is often missing after birth, taking the time to get to know your family so I can provide emotional support, practical help and evidence-based information tailored to your needs. I approach every family with compassion and respect creating a space where you feel heard, and empowered to make the decisions that feel right for you.

Why I Became a Postnatal Doula

My journey into postnatal doula work came from experiencing the difference that the right support can make.

After my first baby, I navigated pregnancy, birth and the postpartum period without a doula. Like many new parents, I found myself overwhelmed by conflicting advice from different sources, unsolicited opinions from well-meaning family and friends, and uncertainty about what information I could trust. Breastfeeding was particularly challenging, and alongside postnatal anxiety, I often felt like I was trying to figure everything out on my own.

When I was expecting my twins, I chose to have a birth/postnatal doula. My experience was completely different. Having someone knowledgeable, compassionate and non-judgemental by my side , who shared evidence-based information, while also helping me reflect on what mattered most to me and make decisions that aligned with my own values and beliefs. I had someone to advocate for me when I needed it, offer practical support during the early weeks, and provide reassurance whenever I felt overwhelmed.

Experiencing both the challenges of feeling unsupported and the positive impact of having the right support showed me just how valuable a doula can be. It inspired me to train as a postnatal doula so that I can help other families feel informed, supported and empowered to make the decisions that feel right for them.

My Philosophy

I believe that the transition into parenthood deserves far more support than our current
society often provides. Humans were never meant to raise children alone. Throughout history, families were surrounded by communities who shared the load, offered guidance and cared for one another. Today, many new parents are expected to navigate recovery, feeding, sleep deprivation, emotional changes and the huge identity shift of becoming a parent with very little support.

As a postnatal doula, I want to help bring back some of that sense of community. I support parents in recognising their needs, communicating their boundaries and making informed choices during a time when exhaustion and emotions can make those
conversations feel difficult.

I also believe that supporting new parents means supporting the people around them too. Partners, family members and friends often want to help but aren't always sure how. I can help loved ones understand how to offer practical and emotional support while respecting the parents’ wishes and helping everyone work together in a way that feels supportive rather than stressful.

My approach is centred around connection, respect and evidence-based information. I don’t believe there is one “right” way to parent. Every family is different, my role isn't to tell you what to do, but to help you feel informed, supported and empowered to make the decisions that feel right for you.

Training & Qualifications

I completed my postnatal doula training with Victoria at Younique Postnatal, where I developed a strong foundation in supporting families through the fourth trimester. My training covered emotional, practical and informational support, infant feeding, newborn care, and supporting the wider family and loved ones during the transition to parenthood.

I have trained as a breastfeeding peer supporter with National Childbirth Trust (NCT)
allowing me to provide evidence-based breastfeeding information, encouragement and signposting while recognising that every feeding journey is unique.

My Values

As a mother, I understand that every family’s journey looks different. I value:

Responsive and respectful parenting:

Supporting parents to build trusting, connected relationships with their baby through empathy, communication and understanding.

Informed choices:

Helping families access reliable evidence-based information so they can make decisions that feel right for them.

Compassion without judgement:

Creating a safe, supportive space where parents feel heard, accepted and never judged.

Community and connection:

Encouraging meaningful connections by sharing local resources and walking alongside families as they find what works for them.

What is a Postnatal Doula?

A postnatal doula supports families through the transition into parenthood, providing a listening ear, reassurance and guidance during the fourth trimester; the early weeks and months after a baby's arrival.

My role isn't to take over or replace you as a parent, but to care for you while you care for your baby. I offer practical, emotional and evidence-based information to help you recover, adjust to life with a new baby and feel more confident as you grow into your new role.

Every family's needs are different, so support is always tailored to you. Sometimes that might look like having someone listen without judgment, helping around the home so you can rest, supporting your feeding journey, offering reassurance with newborn care, or simply reminding you that your own wellbeing matters too.

A postnatal doula is different from a babysitter, a maternity nurse or healthcare professional. Rather than taking over your baby's care, my focus is on nurturing the whole family and helping parents feel supported, informed and empowered to make the choices that feel right for them.

I do not provide medical care or replace your midwife, GP or health visitor, but I work alongside your healthcare team by offering continuous support, sharing evidence-based information and creating a calm, reassuring space during one of the biggest transition of your life.
